Aakaara – ‘expression' in Sanskrit – is a Bangalore-based initiative undertaken to make the arts more accessible, and in the process help make the world a more interesting place to live in. What began as a university project has grown to become a Theatre for Development (TfD) company incorporating the arts, especially theatre into education and your lives. Aakaara brings the effort, dedication and talent of young enthusiastic artists with over seven years of experience in theatre-based learning, performance, art, design and therapy to advocate social change.Our approach is simple: We work with our eyes and ears open and take note of what is happening around us. We then talk about it to people, and conduct extensive research on the topic. We then collaborate with experts and enthusiasts to discuss how we can use our experiences and art to best work the best possible way of growth, and then work our hardest to bring that into practice. In other terms, we custom-design art-based workshops in collaboration with different organisations and artists serving a range of different purposes.
