AICLS has developed a set of programs and annual events to meet the needs of the diverse tribal communities in California. At the core of our programming is the Master-Apprentice Program, helping to create speakers of endangered languages all across the state. We host the biennial Breath of Life Workshop and Language is Life Gathering, as well as providing a funding resource for grass-roots language projects with the Seeds of Language Mini-Grant.The Advocates' mission is to foster the restoration and revival of indigenous California languages so that they will be retained as a permanent part of the living cultures of Native California.
