The Association of BellTel Retirees Inc. advocates for more than 205,000 Bell Atlantic, NYNEX, GTE, MCI, Idearc, AT&T and Verizon union and management retirees and retirees who were transferred to Idearc/SuperMedia. The Association also represents active employees regarding retiree issues, such as cash balance conversions, healthcare and other benefits reductions.Many retirees from throughout corporate America have been set adrift by their former employers. The over 134,000 former union and management members of the Association of BellTel Retirees, representing the 205,000 Verizon retirees, have banded together to fight such corporate and executive arrogance and lack of respect for the retiree and active employee body.We believe that with all retirees acting together we can provide inflation protection for pensions and, through congressional action and passage of legislation, guarantee the healthcare benefits that have been chiseled away over the last 20 years. Currently, the Association is working on state and federal legislation to protect retirees' benefits and is the leader in two legal actions on behalf of retirees.
