CCIS exists primarily to enable growth and economic development in UK coalfield areas, bringing much needed employment and investment benefits to these communities. CCIS will achieve this through investing in co-operatively owned enterprises in the UK coalfields, with a particular emphasis on enterprises in the mining sector. We are committed to seeing something put back into communities affected by the decline of coal mining.Our first project is to partner with New Crofton Co-op Colliery Ltd (NCCC) to develop a new coal mine near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. Planning permission was granted on 19th June 2014, and we believe this co-operative enterprise will bring the benefits to the community which CCIS exists to facilitate.
