Discreet Bowtique is an online shop offering feeding mums affordable, fashionable clothes they can look and - more importantly - feel amazing in.Lucy Rook launched the company in the summer of 2020 determined to give new mothers greater choice and to support their breastfeeding journeys.She says: "I'm passionate about doing what I can to help mums fully understand their options. I'm definitely pro-choice. Breastfeeding isn't for everyone and it doesn't need to be. However, the amazing benefits of breastfeeding our babies are still chronically underreported."According to a recent study published in The Lancet medical journal, only 1 in 200 women in the UK are breastfeeding their children after they reach their first birthday. This is despite the World Health Organisation recommending that we breastfeed our children up to the age of two years or beyond."I believe those low numbers are a lot to do with a lack of support, as well as a lack of knowledge. I also think there's still some stigma attached to it – particularly around feeding our babies in public."It can be a daunting experience feeding when you're out. That's made worse, I think, because there aren't many clothes available that keep you covered up.
