The Employment Rights Workshops (ERW) is a new social enterprise created by Lucia Wilson and Ed Carey.The purpose of our workshops is to support school students as they prepare to enter the world of work by providing tailored sessions that will inform and educate them about their employment rights before they start working.Even before the arrival of the covid.19 pandemic, the world of work was extremely precarious. Added to this, the implementation of Brexit has hinted at changes in workers' rights which will not be for the better. The pandemic has brought in an extra layer of uncertainty that no one was prepared for.The Employment Rights Workshops can play a part in encouraging young people to research their rights at work and thereby give them confidence to make the best decision to protect themselves in the future and lead happier working lives.Lucia Wilson has extensive experience of working in the public sector (NHS), charitable sector (Marie Curie) and the business sector, as well as running her own marketing consultancy for creatives. Lucia is also a writer and lyricist.Ed is a barrister at Lamb Building Chambers in Temple. He has a master's degree with distinction in employment law from the University of Leicester. Before practising as a barrister, Ed worked for a number of charities, trade unions and private sector employers, the last of which was as an in-house counsel for the trade union, Community.
