MyEYES was founded by the collaboration of a patient, a leading glaucoma specialist and an ophthalmic technician. After personally experiencing the impact that using a home tonometry device can provide, Paul, our cofounder, decided to take action to help other people learn how to improve treatment of their glaucoma based on a fundamental fact: IOP (eye pressure) can fluctuate over 24 hrs – sometimes even to high and dangerous levels – and a single pressure check every few months at one point during the day is usually NOT sufficient.Our mission is to make it easier to get home tonometers into the hands of glaucoma patients who need them. In this way, IOP data collected over the span of a week or two at several time points during the day and/or night can help to direct doctors to provide the ideal treatment for that patient's tailored needs. The result: the most effective way to proactively slow the damaging and blinding progression of this terrible disease.
