After the establishment of the University of Delhi in 1922, an amendment to the Delhi University Act in 1943 enabled women students to take examinations with special coaching, without attending regular classes. This led to the formation of the Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB). The Board commenced its operations in September 1944 with 3 students. Currently, the enrolment exceeds 31,000. Only women students residing in the National Capital Territory of Delhi can enrol as students of the Board.The Board provides financial aid and book loan facilities for the academic year to deserving and needy students.A significant advantage of the Non-Collegiate teaching program is its affordability and utilization of existing educational infrastructure during Saturdays, Sundays, and academic breaks.
