If you never tasted a fresh, in season pecan right off the tree, then you have a real treat in store. We grow, harvest, clean, crack, shell, package and ship pecans directly from Ten Horse Farm to our customers as soon after harvest as possible. What makes fresh, in season pecans such a treat – Rich Buttery Oils – that only come from FRESH pecans.Farm history: Located in Georgia's historic "Plantation Trace" region, Ten Horse Farm was once one of the largest working plantations in the area. At the turn of the century in Southwest Georgia, the size of a working plantation was not measured by how many acres it contained, but rather by how many horses it took to farm it – thus the name Ten Horse Farm.The community at Ten Horse Farm consisted of the owner's family, tenant farmers and sharecroppers who prospered by living and working together. The community raised and grew everything they needed. The only thing they bought was salt for seasoning and curing. The plantation owners and their families (including the owner's children) worked side-by-side with tenant farmers and sharecroppers.
