There are plenty of OHS consultants out there selling magic bullets, but dig a little deeper, you will find that many just don't have the qualifications, technical expertise and real industry experience to understand the risks and compliance matters they say they can fix. Most have never actually managed a major incident, dealt with a regulator or prosecution and have not seen what real success looks like. A consultant without real competence and experience can misunderstand risks and over-complicate things, wasting your time and money. Even worse, they can unwittingly create risks or produce evidence that a regulator can actually use against you in a prosecution. In contrast, I've been solving complex problems, accelerating safety performance, managing major accidents, coaching leaders / safety advisors and dealing with regulators across 5 continents for the past 15 years. This gives me working knowledge and real insights, rare amongst my peers. I also understand that less can be more when it comes to risk control, so can focus on what's important when it counts.
