Founded in 2015, UnTied Laces (also known as UTL) is a Manipal-based production house and eventmanagement organisation made possible by the creative efforts put in by the students of ManipalUniversity.UnTied Laces has dedicated itself to promoting a host of creative individuals to showcase theirbrilliance and consists of teams working in management, content and creation, photography, videoand sound, and publicity to facilitate this mission.As the proud parent of Baba Nights – a popular series of live events, UTL's main objective is to bringthe people of Manipal together to bond over comedy, poetry, plays, and music by organising stand-up acts, poetry slams, improv games and musical performances by established professionals andaspiring talents from and beyond the student town of Manipal, its latest guest performers includingstand-up comedian, Vipul Goyal.With collective endeavours made by the members of UTL, Baba Nights has also had its debut in citieslike Delhi and Chandigarh and UTL strives to maximise its reach and appeal to provide a nation-wideplatform for musicians, comedians, spoken word poets, and other performance artists.In addition to this, UnTied Laces runs a YouTube channel that specialises in communicative contentcatering to the interests of young students, including short films and the Manipal On: series thatexplores the views and opinions of the crowd in Manipal. With 2.3k subscribers and over 180k viewson its videos, UTL have effectively managed to expand its reach to audiences in other cities andfurther aim to diversify its content.Since its inception, UTL has successfully organised 12 Baba Nights featuring a string of young talentsfrom different schools within the university. It has also had previous tie-ups with other clubs inManipal, including The Manipal Journal, Manipal The Talk Network, The Think Tank, MIT Post, andPhotography Club Manipal.As of present, UTL has two exciting stand-up shows featuring Daniel Fernandes and The Other Guys,headlined by Karunesh Talwar and Sumit Anand, lined up for the coming week of October.
