Our journey began with a realization close to home: while coaching sports teams and observing interactions among students, young family members and their friends, we noticed a significant impact of technology, particularly smartphones and social media, on the development of crucial skills.The shift towards group chats and text messaging among middle and high school-aged kids has notably diminished face-to-face interactions. Consequently, the majority struggle to develop essential skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and resilience.To validate these observations, we collaborated with superintendents, administrators, teachers and counselors from multiple school districts. Together with organizational psychologists and behavioral scientists, we used this joint research effort to create a graduate profile technology.Our mission became clear: to provide schools with a valuable, evidence-based resource to validate the criteria of their graduate profile. Student EI, an innovative edtech platform, is intricately designed to capture, categorize, and organize the essential skills and attributes that a school's stakeholders have deemed crucial for graduating students.Our team is dedicated to equipping schools with unique data that effectively demonstrates the efficacy of their graduate profile. We strive to empower schools to graduate students equipped with essential skills that align with their envisioned graduate profile.*A graduate profile, also known as a portrait or profile of a graduate, life-ready graduate, future-ready graduate, portrait of a learner, and others, succinctly summarizes the knowledge, skills, and attributes students should possess upon graduation. Its creation involves input from various stakeholders within a school's community. The finalized profile becomes a key component of the school's strategic plan, serving as a public-facing guide.
