The vision of American Skill Exchange is to promote equality through education and cross-cultural exchange.American Skill Exchange (ASE) is a not-for-profit dedicated to partnering talented volunteers who seek meaningful work and cultural immersion, with Latin American communities in need of consistent, hands-on support. We currently have equal-exchange opportunities for volunteers with experience in education, computer technology, agriculture, music, and the arts. ASE was founded by folks who believe that travel can be more than a vacation. Whether you are a student looking to gain work experience, a professional seeking to share your expertise, or a retiree looking for a new adventure, American Skill Exchange will help you create a trip to remember. We will connect you with trusted community partners in Peru or Honduras, where your volunteer work will be exchanged for room and board, a supportive community, and resources to help make your time abroad rewarding and safe. ASE board members and founders have volunteered in the communities we serve. We know that a lack of skilled volunteers is one of the greatest challenges local NGOs face. We know too, that international travel is often a once in a lifetime event. For these reasons, ASE customizes each volunteer immersion. We offer a wide choice of locations, and placements usually have a flexible length of stay and multiple work options. ASE is committed to fostering positive cultural exchange.
