Monday is the first new year's eve that Brian Smith, owner of Chameleon Entertainment hasn't worked. A mobile disc jockey and owner of Chameleon Entertainment, Smith typically is entertaining guests and having fun ringing in the year. Last year, Smith created the party at Café' do Brasil, and for years at Opening Night downtown."It's a sin to play anything except 'Auld Lang Syne' at the stroke of midnight", said Smith, who chose to celebrate the new year with his wife Trinity and son Lincoln. In December he said Chameleon's staff of three DJ's play some twenty five gigs, compared to about sixteen most months. His favorite Christmas songs? 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer' by Gene Autry, 'Silent Night' by the Temptations and 'Linus and Lucy' - a Charlie Brown Christmas, all of which he played for skaters at the Braum's Ice Rink this snowy Friday.For businesses like Devon Energy, Tinker Credit Union, to dozens of wedding receptions, and holiday festivals for Downtown Oklahoma City and Pops on Route 66, Smith said he has practically seen it all in twenty years of being a professional DJ."My business requires that I am knowledgable about music from all genres and eras. I love it because people hire us for special events in their personal or business lives. What they play, when they play it, and what they say on the mic helps create an energy and fun environment for these events. Every day is different at work, because you have a different event with different people and a different theme than I had yesterday. It's a blast!", Smith said.
