We advise building designers and manufacturers of building components and systems during the building design phase and the product development process.Our know-how is also used in research, product development and education. Numerical simulations and test set-ups are used to optimise hygrothermal and acoustical properties of building materials and components. We educate designers and clients in specialised topics.Daidalos Peutz is a member of the Peutz group, with offices in The Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium with more than 190 staff in total.Within the frame of a multidisciplinary design team, we advise on the thermal, visual and acoustic performance of new and existing buildings. Through the control of solar radiation, daylighting and internal gains, we realize optimal summer comfort. Ventilation strategies are devised to realize good indoor air quality without compromising energy use. An integral energy performance approach is used to analyse energy use in buildings, fully taking into account the interaction between design measures. Walls, floors and facades are designed for optimal air-borne and impact sound insulation between rooms and towards the outside. Shape and internal finishings of rooms are designed for optimal acoustical comfort. Through architectural and technical measures, noise from mechanical installations is reduced to acceptable levels. We use state-of-the-art software tools for numerical simulation of physical processes like sound propagation, sound insulation, daylighting, heat transfer and energy use to simulate and optimise the performance of building components. In many cases, we start from existing components to develop our own software tools and measurement set-ups.
