Did You Know:- High blood pressure is among the top risk factors for death, disability adjusted life years (DALYs) and years of life lost (YLL) in Canada. - Hypertension is a leading risk factor for dementia and for other common and costly chronic diseases including congestive heart failure, stroke, eye problems and kidney disease.- Nearly one in five of those living with hypertension do not know they have it.- Thirty-five per cent of those living with hypertension do not have their blood pressure under control.- Over 90% of Canadians are estimated to develop hypertension if they live an average life span.
