Kaul, our family name means " Well Born" and he surname Kaul is derived from Mahakaul meaning ‘the great Kaul', which is an epithet of the god Shiva and descendants of the Lord. The spiritual, ascetic, tantric, and ritual tradition of Hinduism have their origin in Shaivism. Shiva, the brahminic creator, was also the destroyer in a metaphysical sense, is also the destroyer of ignorance and illusion and in that sense became the acceptor of all that was rejected by the brahminical society - alcohol, intoxicants, poison, corpses and used all this to gain the ultimate mastery of his senses. Kaul Wine celebrates Lord Shiva's capacity for knowledge and his power over his senses even with intoxicated. His followers, however, reject the distinction between the divine and the common and use intoxication in an attempt to achieve transcendence. Kaul Wine celebrates that path to salvation.
