I basically began translating when I moved to Paris in 1988 after obtaining my JD from UC Davis School of Law, and translation has been one of my occupations on and off since 1992, when I began translating legal, technical and financial documentation professionally. In 2000, I started translating legal theory and other books and articles while earning my LLM and PhD in international and comparative law at the University of Paris I. My experience as an academic researcher, lawyer and drafter/editor of pleadings and contracts ensures accuracy; my undergraduate studies in and general love of poetry ensure elegance. This is not idle boasting. The Consulate general of France in San Francisco has accredited me to translate official documents (birth certificates, transcripts and the like) from French>English and English>French, and one of my recent book translations, Ordering Pluralism, received this compliment from the reviewer: "The style is alert and the translation excellent" (Bogdan Iancu in The Law and Politics Book Review, June 27, 2010).
