In 1982, Professor Mohammed Omar Bashir presented the idea of a civil university to some Omdurman figures who adopted the idea and worked to implement it. After several meetings and deliberations, the first founding meeting of the university was held in 1984 at the home of Mr. Mohamed Sayed Ahmed.
