Slingshot Productions takes its name from the story of David and Goliath. In 1996 co-founding member of the legendary band THC, Andrew Loubser, took on the task of managing and booking the band and then planning events with promoters for the band to play at. By 2001, alongside Travis Lyle (now involved in AfrikaBurn), he was co-producing the first multi-racial youth festival, The Flux Festival in ...Slingshot Productions takes its name from the story of David and Goliath. By 2001, alongside Travis Lyle (now involved in AfrikaBurn), he was co-producing the first multi-racial youth festival, The Flux Festival in Mooi River, which ran until 2004. From 2005 onwards, Andrew found himself flourishing in the production world and as Slingshot expanded, it came to include the considerable skills of Jack ‘Jamad' Mthembu, Creative Director and Permit/License Guru. More recently but after more than a decade of working together, Dylan Jowett, Site and Operations Manager extraordinaire has joined the ranks and both have proven invaluable addition's to the company. During Slingshot's 22 years of operation, significant experience has been gained by the team on a wide range of events; from producing a TV pilot for "Jacked Up" to co promoting and producing South Africa's first international Tattoo Conventions, production managing the Blacktop Rally (a 6 day Jhb to CT sports car rally) along with the Flux, Splashy Fen and Smoking Dragon Festivals, site & stage management and production co ordination of over 50 international shows and 40 local festivals to providing all the entertainment for the 2010 FIFA World Cup fan parks in Durban. Slingshot also boasts an impressive list of international shows in the past 3 years, working with big names like Meek Mill, Post Malone, Midnight Oil, The Pixies, Future, Travis Scott, Bryson Tiller, French Montana, Robin Thicke, Alien Ant Farm, Migos, J Cole, Chance The Rapper, TLC, Dru Hill, SWV, Tamia and The Cure, along with all the top names in the SA music scene such as AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, TKZEE, Bongo Maffin, Freshly Ground, Mango Groove, Jeremy Loops, Shortstraw, Freshly Ground, Prime Circle and Mafikizolo.
