West of Waitomo, nestled in the Herangi Range next to the Marokopa River, Tamata Estate is the picture of tranquillity. 'The Farm', as it has now fondly been referred to amongst our friends, is a retreat for us and our loved ones from our fast-paced busy lives.In 2022, we took the opportunity to share this slice of paradise with others. Our mission is to create a place where people can come to disconnect, so they can reconnect, reflect and rediscover what's important to them. We are working towards providing a range of luxe eco-accommodation options to support couples, families, creatives, writers and friends, to get some space away from hectic lives and cities, or just have the opportunity to bask in an environment that they wouldn't otherwise have access to.The name 'Tamata' was chosen after the Maori word meaning ‘to restore, refresh and revitalise, and to cultivate, till and work the soil'. Prior to our ownership, the farm was run as an organic farm. We will continue to farm parts of Tamata Estate and are excited to incorporate regenerative practices into the farm and restore and expand areas of native forest. We have partnered with local specialists to use best practices and secure local eco-sourced natives.Our plans for Tamata Estate are guided by our core values, which are: restore the land, connect with nature, and disconnect from distraction.
