Since 2003, the Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse (FOWIL) has assumed the task of restoring the light house for educational, cultural and recreational use. Visit Wood Island Lighthouse on our July and August lighthouse tours, or at one of our special events. We invite you to join our efforts to save this historic landmark by becoming a member of FOWIL. To restore and preserve an important local landmark, the Wood Island Lighthouse, for the enrichment and enjoyment of area residents, visitors and future generations. To document and preserve the historical significance of the lighthouse and honor the men and women who served as its caretakers. To foster community involvement and appreciation for Wood Island Lighthouse through public access and education.
