The International ZIM Innovation and Cooperation Network "Trace+Trust" has the goal to improve the technological competitiveness and innovative strength of SMEs along the whole food value chain. Members use the opportunity to improve business relationships and to enter related market segments in other countries.The vision of the network is a food value chain in which participants and end customers trust both the product information and the claims of the participating companies. This is achieved by establishing and providing authentical food and authentical company info.Through verifiably authentic information, consumers (restaurants, end customers), as well as participants in the value chain (from producers to meat and grocery retailers), should be enabled to obtain verified and forgery-proofed information on products (provenance, logistics, ingredients, etc.) and on the companies involved. Food retailers and consumers can thus select products and producers in a targeted manner and trust the decision criteria relevant to them (e.g., on ethical products or social responsibility of the companies involved) and also market these for their own business.
