The Tudor Ice Company honors the legacy of Frederic Tudor and his spirit of innovation, exploration and determination to fulfill his dream to bring "coolth" to the warmth of the tropics. We are his great, great, great grandchildren. Over the years we have learned of colorful stories of Frederic Tudor's adventures - his failures and his successes - as he persevered to accomplish something that others considered foolhardy. In early 1806, Frederic Tudor endeavored to ship ice from New England to islands in the Caribbean. After many years of setbacks, he finally established a highly profitable trade with the southern United States, South America, Europe and India. Tudor became "The Ice King of Boston".
