Four years ago, our beloved chow-husky mix, Toki, began to suffer from a seizure disorder, leading us on a lengthy research quest to find out what we could do to improve his quality of life. What we learned about the quality of Toki's food and treats, however, came as a shock.We found out that one of the things that can trigger a seizure in dogs is salt. So we looked into his food and his treats and we found out that they were filled with salts, preservatives, food-dyes, sugars and tons of other JUNK. We decided the only way to avoid that JUNK was to start making them ourselves.Using all natural, human-grade ingredients, we created canine confections designed to out-do any commercial treat in both taste and nutrition. After winning the approval of Toki, as well as family and friends we had shared our treats with, we decided to launch Tumbleweed and Eddie's, an "all natural pet treat company," in 2009. Our business' bizarre name wasn't just an attention-grabbing tool, but a way of honoring the reason we entered the industry. Though Toki passed away in 2012, he and his best friend, a Jack Russell terrier named Murphy — our current taste-tester-in-chief — are immortalized by the title of our treats.Tumbleweed and Eddie were their nicknames. We called Toki 'Tumbleweed' because he had an abundance of hair that would fall off and just roll through the house. We call Murphy ‘Eddie' because he has a black widow's peak like Eddie Munster. And the rest is history!!
