The Women Literacy & Skills Training (WoLaST)organization is a national NGO founded in 2020 to train marginalized, non-literate women and girld in rural communities and urban slums of Liberia.We see illiteracy as the root cause of the cycle of poverty in which disadvantaged women find themselves. We also realize that social injustice & gender  inequalities are disproportionately affecting women in every sphere of life. Hence, we are proud to be part of global efforts to push the agenda for women's rights and empowerment.We implement programs aimed at providing basic literacy and other skills for a better quality of life for our target population. We use English as a Second Language to deliver contents in literacy, numeracy and livelihood skills. We are accountable to our supporters and to everyone who benefits from the fulfillment of our vision and mission including our learners.Our services include, but not limited to: . Hairdressing · Civic Consciousness & Participation in decisions-making at the community Level. · Healthy Living (+SRH & HIV/AIDS prevention), etc.Since WLASTO targets empowerment of non-literate women, it  chooses first to develop their skills in basic literacy & numeracy before training in the livelihood skills. When they have acquired fairly good skills in reading and calculations, it will facilitate ease of training in the livelihood activities.
