Later that same year, they issued the first modern title insurance policy and with it an industry was born. We know the company today as Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company.In 1998 Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company joined with Lawyers Title Insurance Company and Transnation Title Insurance Company to become LandAmerica Financial Group, Inc. Since 2008 Commonwealth is a member of the Fidelity National Financial, Inc.
